First to finish the story: set a fair challenge
A first-to-finish-the-story challenge compares who reaches an agreed story-ending milestone first while each player plays separately. To judge it through achievement tracking, choose a game whose published achievement list provides evidence for that exact milestone. Story completion is not the same as full achievement completion, and a higher overall completion percentage alone cannot prove who finished the story.
Check that the milestone can prove the finish
Before starting, agree which achievement establishes the finish and verify its condition against the chosen game’s published information. This format is conditional: no game-specific milestone is identified or assumed here. If the list does not establish the finish you mean, the challenge cannot be settled from OppsCity’s completion tracking alone.
Agree on starting progress, what evidence you will accept and what happens if unlock order cannot be established. Both players starting before the milestone is essential; a rival who has already earned it cannot enter a fresh race to earn it first on that same record.
Keep secret milestone details out of invitations and result captions. Refer to an agreed story milestone without reproducing an unearned secret achievement name. See spoiler-safe tracking.
Separate the story winner from the completion leader
The following is an illustrative rivalry using @example-one and @example-two. It assumes the players have checked that their chosen game’s published milestone proves their agreed finish. It is not a claim about any game’s achievement list or a real rivalry result.
| Point in the challenge | What counts |
|---|---|
| Start | Neither player has earned the agreed story milestone. Both accept platform-synced evidence and the same start boundary. |
| Completion pass | @example-two overtakes @example-one in overall achievement completion. This is a completion pass, not evidence of a story win. |
| Story finish | @example-one earns the agreed milestone first, and the available evidence establishes that order. @example-one wins the story challenge even if @example-two still leads overall completion. |
| Receipt at the end | They share a receipt for the recorded completion position or rivalry event. The caption states the separately checked story result without naming the milestone. The card alone does not prove that result. |
Resolve a finish without guessing
Review the relevant recorded unlock evidence after progress has synced. If both players have earned the milestone and the available evidence cannot distinguish their order, apply the tie rule agreed at the start. The first person to send a message or refresh a screen is not automatically the first to finish.
If either player’s evidence is manual, label it self-reported. Do not describe the challenge as platform-verified on the strength of those check-offs. How OppsCity works covers the distinction between tracking progress and sharing a result.
For a finish line that is the whole achievement list, use the race to 100% format. The competition hub links the available formats and rivalry mechanics.
Build a story rivalry with a finish you both understand and a result that keeps the ending private.
